โ๏ธ SOLAR ECLIPSE SAFETY โ๏ธ
Reminder: At approximately 1:48 p.m., Martin County will begin to experience a partial solar eclipse.
This happens when the moon passes directly between Earth and the sun, momentarily casting a shadow and blocking the sun's light.
Martin County will not experience a "totality" like other parts of the country and can expect to see approximately 51% coverage of the sun.
It is NEVER safe to look directly into the sun with the naked eye. For more information on how to view the solar eclipse next week, please visit: https://www.martinschools.org/article/1532351

๐CHOOSING THE BEST๐
During an Emergency Meeting held this evening, the Martin County School Board voted to add Martin County High School and Jensen Beach High School to the list of approved Controlled Open Enrollment schools for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.
This means in AND out-of-county residents can apply to ANY MCSD-operated school during the application period that will open tomorrow, March 1 โ March 31.
For high school students, applications for signature programs are no longer required as part of the Choice process, but must be completed if your child would like to be considered for entrance into a signature program.
โน๏ธStudents accepted into a Controlled Open Enrollment choice option must have their own mode of transportation to and from school. Students are not required to renew their applications annually and will be permitted to attend their chosen school through the highest grade level offered on the campus.

For the first time ever, CGE competed in Odyssey of the Mind this weekend. Mrs. Tammy Reinhart facilitated the group which has prepared and practiced for more than two months. OM is a STEAM problem-solving competition held on regional, state, and world levels. Unfortunately we will not be moving on to the state competition but it was a fantastic experience for our team: Jaelyn Miller, Eden Gardy, Ella Salcedo, Xander Boysen, Aidan Greene, Alda Rock, and Susie Smith.
โIt was an absolute blast,โ said Mrs. Reinhart. โItโs tough to know our journey is over but the learning experience and camaraderie of our group was inspirational. This is a very talented group of studentsโ.
Congratulations Diamondbacks- thanks for representing CGE with professionalism and a ton of smarts!

Citrus Grove had a fantastic evening at the MCSD Elementary Stem Fair on Thursday! Raazia and Kyleigh took 2nd place for their team project in the environmental category, and
Vincenzoโs individual physics project, earned 3rd place. These three students are proud Diamondbacks in Vanessa Molina-Councilโs classroom.
We also had FOUR classroom project winners: Mrs. Reinhart and Mrs. Lambert earned 2nd place honors, Mrs. Molina-Council earned 3rd place, and Mrs. Wendischโs class received Honorable Mention.
This is the most winners CGE has ever had! Kudos to Mrs. Gibson for running our school based fair.
Additionally, we had many alumni invited to the regional fair for 6-12th grades, including students who will move on to the state competition. CGE is proud of our tradition as a science-focused school!๐คฉ๐คฉ

PICKED FRESH๐
Students at Citrus Grove Elementary School recently enjoyed fresh grape tomatoes with their lunch, which were grown in their own backyard!
The CGE Go Green club grew these tomatoes and the Food and Nutrition Services staff served them. That's as fresh as you can get!
What a great example of hands-on learning in the Martin County School District, while also being healthy and delicious. ๐
