4th and 5th grade Gifted classes presented their Environmental PBLs (Project/Problem Based Learning) to their families and other visitors. After 3 weeks of researching, problem solving, and developing, students created solutions to environmental issues in local and global communities. Fourth grade focused on solving a local environmental problem and fifth grade centered their research on existing environmental laws, while creating new laws to protect our environment. Each group consisted of 3 or 4 students that focused on their own issue. Within each group individual students were assigned their own tasks, including Slide Presentation, Press Release, Display Board, Brochure, and Video. We would like to thank the Education Foundation for providing this opportunity to receive a grant through Wells Fargo Bank for Environmental/ Sustainability student projects. We are very proud of the hard work and dedication of all of our students!

Students surprised Mrs. Riley with six jars labeled โ€œyou rockโ€. The jars were filled with hand painted rocks in which 100 random kids from each grade level were asked to describe โ€œHow Mrs. Riley rocks?โ€. The jars are proudly displayed on the conference table in her office and she reads a new rock each day. Tomorrow is World Kindness day, so we encourage everyone to tell someone in their life how they โ€œrockโ€ ๐Ÿ˜€
