Superintendent Maine’s family joined school district staff for the occasion, allowing many of the employees in attendance the opportunity to meet and greet while enjoying delicious refreshments provided by our Food & Nutrition Services team. The Martin County School Board named Mr. Maine the Martin County School District’s Superintendent of Schools in April 2023, approving a four-year initial employment contract as part of the measure. #ALLINMartin👊

"Ayden couldn’t have asked for a better high school experience than these last four years at Jensen," proud parent Dannielle shared. "He graduated with an AP Capstone Diploma, earned his CNA certification, was a 4-year Varsity Scholar, and represented Jensen Swim all four years, medaling nine times, at the FHSSA 2A State Swim meets. He will continue his education and swim career at Indiana University - Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI), where he will study Biomedical Engineering. Thank you to all his teachers at Felix A. 🎓#MCSDSENIORSTORIES🎓 This morning, we are shining a spotlight on Jensen Beach High School senior Kate Parr! "Kate has attended Jensen Beach High School for the past four years on an AP track," proud parent Amy Eversole shared. "She is a two-time AP Scholar with Distinction and has attained her AP Capstone Diploma, Biliteracy Seal, and Scholar Designation. She played indoor volleyball for Jensen Beach High School for four years, serving as a team captain twice, and club volleyball for seven years. Kate also sang with Jensen Beach High School’s Jubilate for all four years. She participated in several clubs: National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, HOSA, and Key Club. She held leadership positions in many of them as well. She founded the National English Honor Society chapter at Jensen Beach High School and served as the president, was elected as the president of the Math Honor Society, served as recording secretary and then Vice President of the National Honor Society, and previously held the position of treasurer for the Spanish Honor Society. She holds a deep appreciation for all of the teachers that made her the person she is today. When I asked her who she would like to specifically recognize, she replied that it would be impossible for her to choose just a few!" 🦋I SPY A BUTTERFLY🦋 Can you spot the camouflaged butterflies? AP Bio students at Jensen Beach High School were tasked to camouflage butterflies into different surroundings around Mrs. Allen's classroom. Saheli Patel, an AP student and 2023 graduate, shared the idea. It's an activity that has become social media famous but is educational! Students learn about evolution and how animals adapt or blend in to hide from predators. The butterfly catchers in this scenario: Mr. Connelly and Mrs. Reese! At the end of the day, they competed to see who could capture the most butterflies in 10 minutes. 🍎LEAVING A LEGACY🍎 Last week, Superintendent Michael Maine and the Martin County School Board celebrated the career of Stuart Middle School Mr. Peter Erwig. Mr. Erwig has been an outstanding science educator in the Martin County School District for 30 years! He helps students reach their full potential and truly embodies the District's mission to educate ALL students for success. Throughout his 30-year career at MCSD, Mr. Erwig has taught Physical Education to students at J.D. Parker Elementary, coached golf at Jensen Beach High School and cross country at Martin County High School. He has also spent some of his summers sharing his love of science at the Environmental Studies Council Center. Choosing to retire was a hard decision for Mr. Erwig, but he looks forward to spending more time traveling to visit his daughters and teaching golf. Thank you, Mr. Erwig, for your dedication to your students for these last 30 years! #ALLINMartin👊

"Dylan is a proud graduate of Jensen Beach High School," proud mom Nikki shared. "He was a four-year varsity wrestler and a captain of the team for three years. He helped lead the team to four State Titles and finished off his senior year with an Individual State title at 152 pounds. Dylan’s best memories were fishing and boating with friends and making history with the Falcon Wrestling Team. A huge shout out to his amazing coach Tom McMath and all the great teachers he had at Jensen over the last four years!" Dylan is a Martin County Fire Rescue Explorer Program member, currently earning his EMT Certification. He will enter the Fire Academy and train to be a Firefighter/Paramedic. 🎉Congratulations, Dylan! 🎉 We are so proud of you!
