The Beach Announcements: Monday, August 14, 2023. Happy Monday! Welcome to our first full week of school. Students, there are very important “Back-to-School” forms in the FOCUS Parent Portal. Parents must fill out these forms for you to have permission to do many things on campus. We are so excited to announce that auditions for the JBHS Drama Department's upcoming fall play “Puffs” are right around the corner. Auditions will take place on Monday, August 21st from 3PM - 6PM in the JBHS Auditorium. Auditions will include cold readings from the script and an acting workshop. If you are interested in performing in our upcoming production, please join the Drama Club Google Classroom (id4ttib). Go to “Classwork - Fall play puffs information”, and complete the audition packet and sign-up sheet. Dual Enrollment material pick-up appointments started Wednesday, August 9th. Please schedule an appointment if you need to enroll. Dual Enrollment books and access codes must be picked up at the DE Library. If you have extenuating circumstances in getting your materials, you may contact DE at dualenrollment@martinschools.org. NHS news: A meeting for interested NEW members (sophomores or upperclassmen who aren’t already part of NHS) will be held on Wednesday August 23, 2023, right after school in the media center. Our first general meeting of the year for returning members will be on Wednesday, September 6th at 3:15 in the cafeteria – all current members should plan to attend. We have lots of information to share with you and will be working on a service activity for the Humane Society! We are having our first fundraiser of the year on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 - a give back night from Chipotle! Between 5-9, come out to say hi to friends while you eat, or grab take out – make sure to tell them you are there to support the NHS! Please help them keep our campus beautiful and green by placing all trash in trash cans and recycling in the recycling bins. Items that CAN go in recycling include glass, hard plastics such as plastic water bottles NOT plastic wrap, and clean paper items - no food/liquid waste on them. Thank you! News will also be shared via our daily news program, “The Beach”, produced by the TV Production students under the direction of Mr. Heinz. We have many ways for you to stay up to date on all the happenings here at JBHS! If you want to join a club that is fun while also helping our community then Key Club is the club for you. Good Evening Falcon Family, Thank you for all your patience with Schedules, Students ID’s and parking spots for our Juniors and Seniors. We are very excited to welcome back all our Falcon Students on Thursday morning. We have been working all summer planning for Opening Day. All student schedules are live in focus. Please have your students review or print their schedule and report to their period One class on Thursday Morning. Once they arrive in class they will be given a copy of their schedule. Please remind your students that they will need their IDs on Thursday and every day. If your student has not had the opportunity to get a new ID, they will have to opportunity to have a photo taken and an ID issued tomorrow morning before reporting to class. We will be open at 7:45am for students to take ID pictures on Thursday Morning. We will also make arrangements for students to get ID’s during lunch and after school until 3:30pm. School begins promptly at 8:20 and will be over at 3:05. Breakfast will be available in our courtyard beginning at 8:00am. Please check our school website for our new and improved dress code and school policy regarding cell phones usage on campus.
