Martin County High School is incredibly proud to celebrate our own Teacher of the Year and the Martin County School District Teacher of the Year, Chanda Leon, who was recognized at the 2027 Florida Department of Education Teacher of the Year Gala on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
Chanda joined 76 district-level Teachers of the Year from across the state of Florida in a special celebration honoring the dedication, passion, and excellence of educators who make a lasting impact on students every day. Being selected as a district Teacher of the Year is a prestigious achievement that recognizes outstanding professional educators and the difference they make in schools and communities.
The Florida Teacher of the Year Program exists to honor excellence in teaching, support continued learning for educators, and highlight the importance and impact of the teaching profession. It also aims to elevate the stature of teachers, promote quality education, inspire future educators, and showcase teaching as a rewarding and impactful career.
At MCHS, we see firsthand the commitment, care, and excellence that Chanda brings to her students, colleagues, and school community. Her dedication reflects the very best of what it means to be an educator, and we are honored to have her represent both MCHS and Martin County on the state stage.
๐๐ Congratulations, Chanda! Thank you for inspiring students, empowering fellow educators, and making a difference every day. Your Tiger family is proud of you!

Students planning to participate in Dual Enrollment for the upcoming term should be aware of the following deadlines:
New Dual Enrollment Students
๐จIRSC Application Deadline: July 23
All Dual Enrollment Students
๐จCourse Registration Deadline: July 30
Please note that IRSC recently launched a new application and registration system. Students and families are encouraged to complete the process before the deadlines to allow time for any questions or technical issues that may arise.
โน๏ธ Students who have earned qualifying AP, AICE, or other college credit exam scores should request that official scores be sent directly from the testing organization to IRSC. These credits are not automatically added to a student's IRSC record and may be needed for course placement or prerequisite verification. Many students combine Dual Enrollment coursework with previously earned college credits to make progress toward an Associate in Arts (AA) degree. Ensuring all credits are on file with IRSC can help support academic planning and degree completion goals.
For Dual Enrollment information and resources, visit www.martinschools.org/page/dual-enrollment or contact your IRSC advisor.
