Dear MMS Families,
Iโm writing to share some exciting news about upcoming changes at Murray Middle School. Over the next two years, our campus will be undergoing a major transformation that will enhance learning spaces and improve facilities for our students and staff.
Whatโs Changing:
Due to damage from a recent tornado, and as part of the districtโs long-term facilities plan, several buildings on our campus (Buildings 9, 10, and 18) will be demolished. In their place, weโll be gaining:
-A brand-new Building 9 with updated classrooms, labs, and spaces for art, band, and chorus
-A new administration and media center building (Building 1)
-Renovations to our existing gym
-An upgraded chiller plant to support campus-wide climate control
How the Project Will Move Forward:
The districtโs Facilities and Purchasing Departments have already begun the process of selecting an architectural firm and a general contractor (Construction Manager at Risk). These selections are expected to be approved by the School Board in the coming months, with construction to begin after that.
What This Means for Students and Families:
The full project is expected to take about two years. During this time, weโll work closely with the Facilities team to ensure a safe and smooth transition while construction is underway. While there may be some changes to traffic flow, parking, or classroom locations in the future, we will communicate those in advance to minimize disruptions.
We are excited about whatโs ahead and canโt wait to see our campus evolve into a space that better serves our amazing students and staff. I will continue to provide updates throughout the process.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership!

The WMMS LION NEWS crew is excited to share a recent zoom interview with former Murray Middle School and South Fork High School graduate, Alex Deyoung!
Alex is a nineteen year old nursing student working as a public Relations and Patient Advocate Director for Envision MedTech. Envision MedTech is non-profit organization that provides lifesaving pediatric medical technology, equipment and supplies to underserved communities in foreign countries.
Envision MedTech was founded by eighteen year old Brody Galloway from Palm Beach County. Brody and Alex crossed paths early in life when they received life saving heart surgery as babies in a Miami Hospital. They have worked hard to succeed and bring their dreams to life in spite of the health issues they have faced throughout their young lives.
The Murray Middle School community is very proud of Alex and her accomplishments! Please take a moment to view the morning news segment. We are also proud of our news crew! This was our first attempt at a zoom interview and I think they did a great job!
If you wish to learn more about Envision MedTech, please see the links included in the comments!
