🎨CELEBRATING A LEGACY🎨 Retired Martin County School District Art Teacher Tom Prestopnik was recently honored with the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Florida Art Education Association (FAEA)! For over 30 years, Mr. Prestopnik inspired countless students at Jensen Beach Elementary School, Murray Middle School, and South Fork High School, including best-selling author Tony DiTerlizzi, who attended the conference where Mr. Prestopnik received his award. Congratulations, Mr. Prestopnik! Veterans Day 2024 Today, we honored Veterans Day a little differently. Our very own School Resource Officer, Deputy Ross, is a veteran and still active in the Army Reserves. Master Sergeant Ross spoke to each grade level about his journey with the military and what his role is now in the Army Reserves. The students also had the opportunity to learn about what Veterans Day is, how it came to be, and the different between Veterans Day and Memorial Day. We our proud to have Deputy Ross as our School Resource Officer! ❤️🤍💙

Here comes the last week of October! Our Lady Lions advanced to the next round of playoffs at HOMS, PBIS is selling Pumpkin Grams during lunches, and our first band concert of the year is on Wednesday! It's going to be a great week in the Den!

📆MAKEUP DAY INFORMATION📆 Martin County School District students will NOT be required to make up the days missed due to the recent hurricanes. Fortunately, after a thorough review of the District’s instructional calendar, students will still meet state requirements and complete the academic year without the need to use make-up days at this time. We are committed to supporting the community with ongoing recovery efforts, including through the Education Foundation of Martin County’s relief fund for employees and families, providing free meals for students, and offering credit for last week’s Extended Day services. 🌀REOPENING UPDATE🌀 **Update 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10: Schools and offices in the Martin County School District will resume operations on Monday, October 14. The majority of our campuses were fortunately spared from receiving severe damage and have been cleared for a safe return to classes. Murray Middle School did sustain significant damage, but thanks to our team’s remarkable cleanup efforts today and over the weekend, students and staff will be able to return Monday, utilizing areas of the campus that remained unaffected. Safety remains our highest priority, and we are committed to providing a secure learning environment as repairs continue. Our thoughts and prayers are with our families and neighbors as we all continue to rebuild from Hurricane Milton, and we stand ready to support our students, families, and staff in any way possible. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, offering a sense of normalcy through the power of education. #ALLINMartin👊
