🔬SCIENCE FUN FOR EVERYONE🔬 Looking for something fun to do to kick off Thanksgiving Break? Dive into a sea of science fun at the 2023 Indian River Lagoon Science Festival this Saturday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Fort Pierce! It's FREE day of discovery that will be a blast for the whole family with dozens of hands-on, minds-on activities exploring the wonders of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM). The Indian River Lagoon Science Festival aims to show the importance of science and highlight how fun it can be! In addition to more than 70 hands-on educational STEAM exhibits, stage shows, raffles and food trucks, there will be free admission to the Smithsonian Exhibit at the St. Lucie County Aquarium and Regional History Center! Hello Pinewood Family, Conference night was a great success! Thank you for collaborating with our teachers and for visiting our book fair. Your donations continued to flow in and we were able to donate well over 50 baskets to Elev8 Hope. Your generosity is an great example of kindness and compassion for others. 🍁THANKSGIVING BREAK UPDATE🍁 The Martin County School District would like to formally announce students and teachers will have Nov. 20-24 off for Thanksgiving Break. As noted in the Instructional Calendar, Nov. 20 and 21 were designated as emergency makeup days to ensure our students would receive the instruction in the event the District had to close schools due to storms or other unforeseen emergencies. The District has had no such situation creating a need to make up instructional time; therefore, those two days are included in Thanksgiving Break for students and teachers. The Martin County School Board approved the 2023-2024 School Calendar during its meeting on Nov. 22, 2022. Hello Pinewood Family, This week we have conference night Wednesday, November 8th, from 5-8 pm. Hopefully you have made your appointment with your child's teacher. On the same night, our Book Fair will be open for you to enjoy. Our donations for the Thanksgiving baskets are still being collected. Students will receive an Admin pawprint for their donation until November 11th. We are making our last push to sign up golfers for our annual Golf Tournament on December 2nd (flyer attached). We sent out flyers Thursday. Please share with everyone you know. We are raising funds to provide different incentives for Pawsome behavior, including field trips. Have a great week! Hello Pinewood Families, We are using a program called i-Ready which allows your child to remediate or accelerate their learning in Reading and Math. To encourage and motivate students, we created a monthly challenge. You can use this program at home too on your computer or i-Pad (not available on cell phones yet). The program is most effective when it is used 30-45 minutes per week on each subject (Reading and math). You can access the program on Classlink. Can't wait to announce the challenge winners in December! Hola familias de Pinewood, Estamos utilizando un programa llamado i-Ready que le permite a su hijo corregir o acelerar su aprendizaje en lectura y matemáticas. Para animar y motivar a los estudiantes, creamos un desafío mensual. También puedes usar este programa en casa en tu computadora o i-Pad (aún no está disponible para teléfonos celulares). El programa es más eficaz cuando se utiliza de 30 a 45 minutos por semana en cada materia (lectura y matemáticas). Hello Pinewood Families, We had an amazing STEAM Night! Thank you so much for coming to spend the evening with us and learn about science, math, teachnology and art. We hope you enjoyed seeing the science projects. Our scienctists are hard at work in their classrooms. We hope this encourages you to submit an individual science project for the District fair in 2024. 📆HURRICANE MAKEUP DAYS📆 Reminder for families: Hurricane season doesn't officially end until Nov. 30. As we near the end of the season, we want to remind Martin County families of the scheduled Emergency Makeup Days built into the 2023-2024 School Calendar. We are also nearing the first set up Emergency Makeup Days on our Instructional Calendar, which precedes Thanksgiving Break (Nov. 20-21). These days may be used to make up instructional time in the event we need to close for one or more storms. IF we do NOT experience any emergency situations or storms requiring us to use one or more of these Emergency Makeup Days, those two days will be added to Thanksgiving Break, giving students the week away from school (Nov. 20-24). At this time, that appears to be the case. If we experience conditions that would necessitate making up one or more school days, we will provide notice of the appropriate date(s) to families and employees as soon as possible. Our Pinewood Panthers made a pawsome effort in quarter one to come to school every day, on time. We had over 100 students with perfect attendance and around 247 who met our Pawsome Attendance criteria of one absence and a combined 1 tardy or 1 early sign out. Way to go Panthers! Thank you parents as we understand you earned this award with your kids. They received an attendance Pokeball to show off on their bookbags. Attached, are the Pokeballs your child can earn for quarter 2 (October 16-December 22). Catch 'em all! Nuestros Pinewood Panthers hicieron un gran esfuerzo en el primer trimestre para llegar a la escuela todos los días, a tiempo. Tuvimos más de 100 estudiantes con asistencia perfecta y alrededor de 247 que cumplieron con nuestros criterios de asistencia Pawsome de una ausencia y una combinación de 1 tardanza o 1 salida temprana. ¡Así se hace, Panteras! Gracias padres, ya que entendemos que se ganaron este premio con sus hijos. Recibieron una Pokebola de asistencia para lucirla en sus mochilas. Good morning Pinewood Family, We loved seeing all of our panthers celebrating Character Counts week. This week we are learning to respect our bodies and minds by making a pledge to be drug free. We also want to thank the Rotary Club for donating dictionaries for all of our third graders this coming week. This is an amazing gift.
