🎉CELEBRATING 100 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE🎉
This summer, we’re continuing our centennial celebration by highlighting the proud alumni and staff who’ve been part of the Martin County School District's legacy!
Today, meet Nikki Hackett, a 1996 graduate of South Fork High School. From middle school memories at Murray Middle School, to forming lifelong friendships, cheering at Friday night football games, and finding her passion for teaching as a Teacher’s Aide at SeaWind Elementary—Nikki’s journey with MCSD has been a memorable one.
"Every one of my teachers made a lasting impression, including Mr. Chatham in Science, and Dr. White in Reading/L.A," Nikki shared. "I developed strong friendships that carried me through high school, and several of whom I still call my best friends, 35 years later. My time at South Fork was perfect in almost every way. Technology hadn’t crept its way into the social scene yet, and we all just had so much fun together. Friday night football games, cheering on the team, fundraisers for SGA, camaraderie on the soccer field, and forming a foundation in my education journey to prepare me for college. My senior year, I was able to participate in the Teacher’s Aide program, where I assisted in a kindergarten classroom every day. I was lucky enough to work in Sharon Waite’s classroom at SeaWind, and she inspired me to go into education. I truly value my experiences in the MCSD schools I attended, and I am so proud to call myself an MCSD alumnus."
"After graduating from SFHS, I attended USF, where I graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education," Nikki continued. "I taught first grade in the Tampa area for 11 years. When my husband and I had our daughter, we moved 'home' to Hobe Sound. Our son is in 4th grade at SWE, and our daughter is finishing up her time at MMS, heading into SFHS. We attended a Pathway Orientation, and I was absolutely thrilled to hear the positivity and pride that were exuding in the students who spoke that night. Ms. Thompson described the amazing culture that makes SFHS so unique. Students come from many different backgrounds…economically, racially, socially…but all unite together with pride in their school and support for one another. It brought me to tears because that is exactly how I felt, upon graduating 30 years ago. I’m ecstatic that my daughter will have the privilege of attending my Alma Mater, but not just because I went there, but because it is an exemplary place to be."

🌀🚧REBUILDING STRONGER🚧🌀
We’re proud to share that the Martin County School District has been awarded $500,000 in state funding to support the restoration of Murray Middle School, which was severely damaged during Hurricane Milton.
The school’s band and chorus rooms were among the hardest hit. This funding will support the rebuild of modern, safe, and well-equipped spaces where our students can grow academically and artistically—on a campus they’re proud of.
Our sincerest thanks go to Governor Ron DeSantis, the Florida Legislature, Rep. Toby Overdorf, and Sen. Gayle Harrell for making this possible.
