🎓#MCSDSENIORSTORIES🎓 This afternoon, we are shining a spotlight on South Fork High School senior Sumer Jackson! "Sumer has been involved in SGA, Vice President of Best Buddies, Football Cheer, Competitive Cheer and is the President of SALT (Student Athletic Leadership Team)," proud mom Pam shared. "She also helped open up the thrift store at South Fork. Sumer plans to finish her AA degree in Business at IRSC - Indian River State College before going on to get her Medical Esthetician license." "She has many memories at South Fork, but probably her most recent is being a part of this inaugural year in Competitive Cheer and placing 7th in the state," Pam continued. "We would like to especially thank Mrs. Gorton, Ms. Thompson and Ms. Bradley for encouraging and believing in Sumer. Congratulations to Sumer and the 2024 graduates of South Fork High School. 🍎LEAVING A LEGACY🍎 Last night, Superintendent Michael Maine and the Martin County School Board celebrated the career of Felix A. Williams Elementary Extended Day Manager, Kandy Gilbert. Ms. Gilbert has served the Martin County School District for 32 years. She started her journey as an Extended Day manager at Jensen Beach Elementary School, but has been part of the FAWE family since 1994. She provides more than a safe place for after-school hours, she also enriches the lives of her students by teaching them new skills. Over her 32 years, she has made meaningful connections with her students, many of whom have gone on to work with her as Extended Day counselors! Thank you for being so dedicated to the students in MCSD over the years. We wish you the best in retirement, Ms. Gilbert! #ALLINMartin👊

🎓#MCSDSENIORSTORIES🎓 This morning, we are shining a spotlight on Jensen Beach High School senior Austin Connelly! "Austin will be attending Hillsdale College in Michigan," proud mom Dawn shared. "Austin‘s sister Hana also attends Hillsdale. Austin chose Hillsdale because of its rigorous academics, and a distinctive core curriculum anchored in western tradition and Judeo-Christian faith. Austin‘s decision was solidified when he was invited to a special leadership weekend for a select group of admitted students where he participated in group projects, a persuasive essay and interactive lectures that earned him a scholarship." Austin is currently serving as the Martin County School Board Student Representative. 🎉Congratulations, Austin! "Brooke is a 2nd generation Palm City Elementary School Wildcat and MCHS Tiger," proud mom Caroline shared. "So many teachers including Mr. Cancilla, Mrs. Green, and Mrs. Harse sparked her love for learning at PCE, and a shout out to Principal Marin. Such great memories with Mrs. Burns from Hidden Oaks Middle School and a shout out to Principal Eckler. At MCHS, Brooke earned her Cambridge International Education AICE diploma and had so many wonderful teachers including Mr. Dennis and Mr. Opanel. She was a captain of the football and basketball cheer teams and has been dancing since she was three...Thank you to the Martin County School District for providing a learning environment where she was able to grow and thrive.
