🍎CHOOSING THE BEST🍎
During an Emergency Meeting held this evening, the Martin County School Board voted to add Martin County High School and Jensen Beach High School to the list of approved Controlled Open Enrollment schools for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.
This means in AND out-of-county residents can apply to ANY MCSD-operated school during the application period that will open tomorrow, March 1 – March 31.
For high school students, applications for signature programs are no longer required as part of the Choice process, but must be completed if your child would like to be considered for entrance into a signature program.
ℹ️Students accepted into a Controlled Open Enrollment choice option must have their own mode of transportation to and from school. Students are not required to renew their applications annually and will be permitted to attend their chosen school through the highest grade level offered on the campus.

📚CELEBRATING OUR HISTORY📚
Today, we are honored to celebrate two trailblazers of education in Martin County for #BlackHistoryMonth.
Dr. David L. Anderson was an educational pioneer in Martin County, having served as a School Board Member (the longest-serving member in Martin County and Florida!) and in various leadership roles at IRSC - Indian River State College for more than 30 years. In 2006, he was honored as the namesake of the Martin County School District's newest middle school - Dr. David L. Anderson Middle School.
Ms. Gertrude Pettway was an educational leader in the Hobe Sound community. She founded the Humpty Dumpty Kindergarten, now known as the Hobe Sound Early Learning Center, and was the first Kindergarten teacher at Hobe Sound Elementary School. In 1985, she was named the first black South Regional Teacher of the Year.

⚾️HOME RUN FOR THE COMMUNITY⚾️
A dream has become a beautiful reality for the community, thanks to a collaborative partnership between the McNicholas Family Foundation, Martin County School District and Martin County Board of County Commissioners' Parks & Recreation Department.
The Hidden Oaks Middle School athletic park has been completely revitalized; the concession stands were remodeled and new bleachers, clay, grass and scoreboards were installed, among other additions and renovations. During the meeting Tuesday night, the School Board received an update on the project, including future phases that will include batting cages, bullpens and more.
We are grateful for the partnership and the ability to bring back the love of baseball and sports on these fields!
