🎉CELEBRATING MATH CHAMPIONS🎉 This past weekend, the Martin County School District Math Team proudly hosted the inaugural Fifth Grade Math Olympics at Dr. David L. Anderson Middle School. Twelve teams of students from across the district went head-to-head, battling for the title of District Champion. Students competed in various rounds involving problem-solving, critical thinking, and speed math. In the end, Palm City Elementary School's team was victorious! Citrus Grove Elementary School's team took home second-place honors and Jensen Beach Elementary School's team placed third. Way to go, MCSD Mathletes! #ALLINMartin👊

🎲GAME CHANGERS🎲 Five Martin County School District students headed to the AGLOA National Tournament in Orlando this past weekend! In Academic Games, students try to outthink each other in the areas of mathematics, language arts, and social studies. Murray Middle School 6th grade students Daphne Dupuis, Deven Chauhan and Landon Kodare, along with Crystal Lake Elementary School 5th grader Lew Barski and Palm City Elementary 5th grader Brian Wang, did an amazing job competing amongst the country’s smartest kids. "I cannot even begin to express the joy Maris has given to me and so many others," proud mom Susan shared. "She has overcome so many academic hurdles and there were many times I couldn’t see light at the end of a very long graduation tunnel. Lots of tears of frustration, but it has been WORTH it. Through all of this was a hero, Mr. Cody Wilson. I cannot say enough thanks to him for being so caring, always on top of everything, and constantly staying in touch to update me on Maris’ grades. Every student should have their own Mr. Wilson. MCHS has been a village to this single mom. I am grateful." 🍎LEAVING A LASTING LEGACY🍎 On Tuesday evening, Superintendent Dr. John D. Millay and the Martin County School Board celebrated the career of Sharon Jovanovich. Ms. Jovanovich taught for many MCSD schools over her 32-year career. Certified in elementary education for grades 1-6, K-12 reading and ESOL-endorsed, she began her career at Port Salerno Elementary School, where she taught first and third grades for five years. She then moved to SeaWind Elementary - Hobe Sound, FL for three years before briefly leaving the District. She returned to Martin County and J.D. Parker Elementary School, where she taught for 11 years before transferring to Hobe Sound Elementary School. Ms. Jovanovich spent the last 13 years at HSE, where Principal Dr. Dianne Memmer-Novak tearfully congratulated her for being an amazing teacher, creating genuine relationships and cultivating a unique classroom community. Ms. Selvidge, who comes from Broward County, will spend the next few months working alongside Mr. Fabrizio, who is set to retire at the end of this school year. Ms. Selvidge brings a wealth of experience as a school administrator with her to Martin County.
