π£SHARE YOUR FEEDBACKπ£
The Martin County School District seeking your feedback about a potential year-round school pilot program.
What is year-round school? Year-round school does NOT mean students will be in the classroom for more days. Instead, the mandated 180 days of instruction are spread throughout the year, changing the duration and timeframes of breaks.
In May, Governor Ron DeSantis signed HB 891 into law, establishing a four-year pilot program for year-round schooling. To contemplate joining the program (which starts in the 2024-2025 school year), the District was required to apply by the Florida Department of Education.
The District has initially identified Warfield Elementary, Pinewood Elementary, Port Salerno Elementary, and Indiantown Middle as potential schools to participate in the pilot program.

πCROSS-CURRICULUM INNOVATIONπ
Several elementary school teachers engaged in professional development to increase student outcomes of project-based learning.
The goal of this optional training was to identify numerous avenues to incorporate multiple subjects into one project, while also increasing student 'voice and choice' options!
By integrating more academic subjects into one project and providing different options for how students complete that project, students can experience a multifaceted approach to learning, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of their units!
Teachers from Citrus Grove Elementary, Crystal Lake Elementary and J.D. Parker Elementary attended this professional development session hosted by MCSD instructional coaches Mrs. Register and Mr. Beasley.

π§‘πAppreciation Postππ§‘
The entire CGE staff wishes to thank our amazing PTA. This week they organized volunteers to create a holiday parade float, help in the cafeteria, and run a VERY busy Holiday Shop. It's difficult to find background-checked helpers for one endeavor much less three in the same week!
The Holiday Shop, and other fundraisers run by the PTA, provide fun activities for students, such as Trunk or Treat and Sailfish Splash events, but that's not all. Our generous PTA also supplements the curriculum for our school! Lexia was purchased for Kindergarten through 5th grade students to enrich our ELA materials, and ππrecently IXL was bought for 1st-5th math practice.ππ We could not provide these apps for students without the support of our PTA.
While we thank our PTA for the organization, management, and creation of the programs they provide, as well as the NUMEROUS hours of time they donate to us, we know that they are indebted to all of our families. The financial support of our Diamondback community is noticed and appreciated!

π’SHARE YOUR FEEDBACKπ’
In accordance with Florida's instructional materials adoption cycle, the Martin County School District is beginning the Science curriculum adoption process.
Students, parents/caregivers, employees and members of the community are encouraged to review materials that have been submitted by publishers and provide their feedback as part of the process.

πLIFESAVING KNOWLEDGEπ
Martin County School District elementary school students recently learned about community heroes and possible career paths.
What better way to discover the special equipment, education, and training required to be a firefighter or paramedic than from a Martin County first responder?! Thank you to Martin County Fire Rescue for showing our students the amazing work you do for the community!
We might have future firefighters and paramedics in the making after seeing theseπ« real-life superheroes in action!
