The 40th annual Russell Holloway Elementary Track Meet was held today and CGE delivered an impressive win! Our girls' team took first place, the boys' team earned second place, and for the third year in a row, we were the overall winners. Led by Coach T Harnden and Assistant Coach Miller, our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade athletes worked hard against top competition. "This team knew they would need their A-game to bring home the trophy again," said Coach T. "They were motivated and incredibly supportive of each other. This is a great team of kids and an awesome group of parents." For the first time, CGE had a cheer team to lead our fans. The Rattlers group formed recently and kept the energy up in the stands from start to finish. We look forward to seeing more of their spirit at future school events. Our 5th graders were triple champions, enjoying the exuberance of winning all three years they were eligible to participate. We hope the spring Running Club, open to 2nd-5th graders will help our future teammates get ready for next year's competition!

🔔NEW START TIMES FOR THE 24-25 SCHOOL YEAR🔔 The Martin County School Board approved new school start times for the 2024-2025 School Year during its regular Board Meeting tonight. Florida HB 733, passed in 2023, requires school districts to comply with new middle and high school start times beginning with the 2026-2027 school year. To comply with the legislation, Martin County School District school start and end times have been adjusted for the 2024-2025 school year. Because we are implementing the new times before the mandated year (2026-2027), the District will receive funds from the Florida Department of Education, which a portion of will be used to purchase a school bus tracking system for families. This system will allow verified parents and guardians to see when the bus will arrive at its stop in the mornings and afternoons, and if there are any delays along the route. Read more about the new times, legislation and bus tracking system here: https://www.martinschools.org/article/1413309 #ALLINMartin👊

📣SHARE YOUR FEEDBACK📣 The Martin County School District seeking your feedback about a potential year-round school pilot program. What is year-round school? Year-round school does NOT mean students will be in the classroom for more days. Instead, the mandated 180 days of instruction are spread throughout the year, changing the duration and timeframes of breaks. In May, Governor Ron DeSantis signed HB 891 into law, establishing a four-year pilot program for year-round schooling. To contemplate joining the program (which starts in the 2024-2025 school year), the District was required to apply by the Florida Department of Education. The District has initially identified Warfield Elementary, Pinewood Elementary, Port Salerno Elementary, and Indiantown Middle as potential schools to participate in the pilot program. Join the conversation! Share your insights or questions by heading to this link or participating during public comment at the Board Workshop on January 9, 2024: https://bit.ly/3S5PGqv #ALLINMartin👊

🍎CROSS-CURRICULUM INNOVATION🍎 Several elementary school teachers engaged in professional development to increase student outcomes of project-based learning. The goal of this optional training was to identify numerous avenues to incorporate multiple subjects into one project, while also increasing student 'voice and choice' options! By integrating more academic subjects into one project and providing different options for how students complete that project, students can experience a multifaceted approach to learning, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of their units! Teachers from Citrus Grove Elementary, Crystal Lake Elementary and J.D. Parker Elementary attended this professional development session hosted by MCSD instructional coaches Mrs. Register and Mr. Beasley. #ALLINMartin👊 #PublicSchoolProud #MCSDBetterTogether💫

🧡💚Appreciation Post💚🧡 The entire CGE staff wishes to thank our amazing PTA. This week they organized volunteers to create a holiday parade float, help in the cafeteria, and run a VERY busy Holiday Shop. It's difficult to find background-checked helpers for one endeavor much less three in the same week! The Holiday Shop, and other fundraisers run by the PTA, provide fun activities for students, such as Trunk or Treat and Sailfish Splash events, but that's not all. Our generous PTA also supplements the curriculum for our school! Lexia was purchased for Kindergarten through 5th grade students to enrich our ELA materials, and 👏👏recently IXL was bought for 1st-5th math practice.👏👏 We could not provide these apps for students without the support of our PTA. While we thank our PTA for the organization, management, and creation of the programs they provide, as well as the NUMEROUS hours of time they donate to us, we know that they are indebted to all of our families. The financial support of our Diamondback community is noticed and appreciated!
