🎉✨ Character Counts Week was a blast at the JBE Media Center! ✨🎉
Students explored the 6 Pillars of Character—Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship—through fun and interactive stations. These team-building challenges helped bring these values to our Vikings in a fun way! 💙💛

Pizza Palooza time in First Grade! 🍕🎉
Students had great fun demonstrating their understanding of addition and subtraction within 20 with some serious pizza pizzazz. Way to go, Mrs. McIntyre’s Firsties! ➕➖
Mrs. Ryan’s 5th graders wrapped up Unit 2 with a creative “character autopsy” ✏️🧠
Students “dissected” a favorite character by designing and writing about what drives them—traits, motivations, and big moments. They even taste-tested snacks and compared flavors to how a character might act. Sweet, salty, or spicy… which trait fits? 🍬🍿🌶️

🌱 Mrs. Clark’s 2nd graders are growing their science skills! 🌞 They’ve been learning all about the plant life cycle and got hands-on with their own Lima bean seeds. Each student placed their seed in a damp paper towel and set it in the sunlight to watch the germination process begin. It’s been so exciting to see those tiny sprouts start to grow! 🌿

Please give a warm welcome to your Jensen Beach Elementary's 2025-2026 Odyssey of the Mind Team! They spent the day Saturday working on improving the "style" of their performance (which is a good chunk of their score at competition). They worked on everything from acting skills and stage directions, to building strong structures using cardboard, and creating costumes and props out of everyday objects. We are just getting started, but we can already tell it's going to be a GREAT year!

To mark the launch of UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Institute) Foundations, the District’s new research-based literacy program for K–2 students, the Elementary ELA team invited classrooms across the Martin County School District to help name the new UFLI unicorn mascot.
More than 212 creative entries were submitted, but one name stood out above the rest: TigerLilly, submitted by Mrs. Jill Boudreau’s kindergarten class at Jensen Beach Elementary School! 🎉
TigerLilly now symbolizes the excitement, teamwork, and unstoppable dedication fueling early literacy growth across our A-rated District!

Mrs. Sugg’s third graders went a little batty last week — in the best way! Students played bat-themed math games, read in their very own “bat cave,” and used AI to research different types of bats for their Bat-tastic reports.
And of course, no Bat Day would be complete without a snack — bat-shaped Oreos made the perfect treat for our young scientists! 🍪💙

Through A Day in the Life of the Indian River Lagoon, and in partnership with ORCA (Ocean Research and Conservation Association), U. S. Sailing Center, and the Environmental Studies Center, young scientists collected water quality data and biological inventories to study the health of this vital local ecosystem.
It’s hands-on, purposeful learning in action! Just one example of how our A-rated, unstoppable schools are preparing students for a bright future.
