HOCO Day 1!
🐖📚 In a unit on George Orwell's Animal Farm, Ms. Nicholas's English I Honors students researched and created posters about topics from the Russian Revolution. Next they participated in a Gallery Walk in which they connected the characters and events from Animal Farm to their historical counterpart to understand allusion and how real events can inspire fictional stories. The a-ha moments were priceless!

🏅The girls team ran strong for 3rd place, led by Charley Fischer who placed 2nd overall!

In preparation for the National PTA Reflections art contest, students explored the stages of the design process—research, brainstorming, concept development, and sketching. SkillsUSA will be having a general meeting to discuss service projects & CTE program representatives in the Drafting classroom (4-111) on Tuesday morning starting at 8:00 AM. Please bring the $25 annual dues. There will be food!

Ticket sales will take place on the following dates/times:
October 15-23 during lunches (approx. 12:00-1:30 pm) in the auditorium lobby.
Parents: We will need about 8 volunteers for selling tickets, going through obligation lists, etc.
(NOTE: October 15 is PSAT, so it will be an alternate bell schedule- once we know exact times, we will share them out)

Senior tutors are needed on campus Tuesdays and Thursdays during 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 6th periods IF you have an off block during one or more of these periods. You will earn volunteer hours AND it will look great on an application or resume! Stop by the Innovation Center OR email Mrs. Wintercorn at winterj@martinschools.org if you are willing and able to help.

Congratulations to the football team on their big win over John Carroll on Friday night!
For any girl interested in playing Flag football this year, conditioning will start Monday, October 27th, from 3:30-5 at the stadium. It will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays. You must have a complete physical uploaded to the athletic clearance website and a minimum of a 2.0 GPA. Any questions, please see Coach Gilly in room 119.
