Mr. Biancone's AVID 4 students accepted the challenge and the results were powerful, creative, inspiring, and deeply personal. AVID students are thinkers, leaders, and storytellers.
Each Six-Word Memoir gave students an opportunity to reflect on their experiences, celebrate their growth, and share a glimpse of what drives them toward their future goals.
The project encouraged critical thinking, self-awareness, and authentic student voice while demonstrating that impactful communication does not require many words. From overcoming challenges to pursuing dreams, these six words speak volumes.
What would your six-word memoir be?

Students in Mr. Hessler's class recently took on a creative and meaningful challenge: designing posters that answered the question "What Makes Me Happy?" or "I Am Happy When..."
Before putting pen to paper, students learned two important lessons:
๐จ The Power of Design
Just like cereal boxes on a grocery store shelf, great posters need to capture attention. Students used bright colors, creative layouts, and eye-catching designs to draw viewers in before sharing their message.
๐ญ The Power of Reflection
Students took time to pause, disconnect from distractions, and look inward to discover what they truly value and enjoy in life.
But the posters are only the beginning.
The real purpose of this lesson is to help students explore the difference between extrinsic happiness and intrinsic happiness. As they examine their posters, many will discover that the things they initially listed are often external rewards or possessions. The next step is a deeper journey of self-discovery as they identify the internal values that bring lasting fulfillment, such as:
โค๏ธ Caring for family and friends
๐ค Helping others
๐ Bringing joy to someone else
๐ Making a positive impact
Armed with these new insights, students will create a second poster that reflects the intrinsic qualities that truly make them happy.
At MCHS, learning goes beyond academics. It's about helping students understand themselves, develop meaningful values, and discover what truly matters.
