At Palm City Elementary School, we learn too. Our teachers are lifelong learners who continue to grow so we can best support our students.
During our early release professional learning time, teachers focused on strategies connected to our AVID site goals, including AVID two-column notes and organization. We also explored ways to strengthen oral reading, use reading notebooks to support comprehension, and incorporate IXL for targeted skill practice.
When students head home early, our learning continues so we can bring even stronger instruction back to our classrooms.

On February 28th, our team competed at Regionals and placed 5th in their division — an incredible accomplishment!
These students dedicated over 50 hours of hard work to come together as a true team. They collaborated to create an original skit, problem-solve under pressure, design and build a set with props, and stretch their creativity in ways that were nothing short of impressive.
Beyond the placement, we are most proud of their teamwork, perseverance, and growth throughout this journey. They supported one another, stayed committed, and represented PCE with confidence and heart.
Way to go, team! 💙💛 👏

Assistant Superintendent Dr. Lisa Estevez and members of the Student Services team (Director Deb Riley, Coordinator Guillermo Orozco, and specialists Derrell McColister and Jenny Champagne) stopped by each campus to deliver the trophies and celebrate these schools for showing up and leading the way in attendance.
The trophies will remain proudly on display through the end of the school year. Families, let’s keep it going and finish the year strong! 💪

They unpacked standards, mapped out Topic 12 using the Big-M instructional guide, and put teacher clarity into action. Then, in a fast-paced “Chopped”-style challenge, teams created student-centered math games aligned to their mind-mapped standards.

Today, we had a special visit from our amazing plant operator, who demonstrated the rover robot that helps keep our school floors clean. Students loved seeing this technology in action and learning how robots can make important jobs easier and more efficient.
It was a wonderful opportunity to connect our reading and learning to the real world and spark curiosity about how technology can help others.
