Nicole earned her Associate Degree from IRSC - Indian River State College through the dual enrollment program. She plans to attend Palm Beach Atlantic University - PBA's Doctor of Pharmacy program in the fall of 2023. Until then, she'll finish her prerequisites at IRSC. ✈️TAKING FLIGHT✈️ Touring Martin County's Witham Field to personally experience all things related to aviation is just one of the many benefits offered to students enrolled in Spectrum Academy's Aerospace Technologies program. The program's goal is to encourage students' interests in science, engineering and mathematics while preparing them for certification as aircraft assemblers. Students learn the fundamental theories of aircraft design and construction while also becoming proficient with the tools and processes used for aircraft assembly. 🎓IRSC MAKES PROMISE TO HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS🎓 Indian River State College (IRSC) will offer tuition-free associate degrees to public and charter high school graduates across the Treasure Coast beginning with the #Classof2022! Sponsored by the IRSC Foundation , the program will be open to students in the four counties served by IRSC- take note graduating seniors from Jensen Beach High School, Martin County High School and South Fork High School! To be eligible, students must graduate from a Treasure Coast-area high school in 2022. College athletes are not eligible per the Florida Council for Athletic Affairs. 🤝CELEBRATING PARTNERSHIP🤝 The Martin County School District held its annual Volunteer & Business Partner Awards Ceremony on April 14, honoring many outstanding members of our community for their donation of their time and talents to our students and schools. More than 2,400 volunteers donated approximately 42,000 hours of their time in service to children in the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years, resulting in an estimated impact equivalent to $1.2M. We feel honored and extremely fortunate to be able to continue educating all students for success in our generous, giving, engaged and helpful Martin County community! 🎓#MCSDSENIORSTORIES🎓 Today's senior in the spotlight is Kiana Kuschel of South Fork High School! "Our daughter, Kiana Kuschel, is what those of us who know her call SFHS's #1 fan!" proud mother Patricia Kuschel shares. "Kiana has always has a love for SFHS and is a proud Bulldog through and through! She didn't just attend South Fork, she LIVED South Fork! In addition to being a successful student in the International Baccalaureate program, Kiana worked as the lead technician for the auditorium, spending many evenings at South Fork ensuring that the shows would go on. Her team spirit has always been off the charts! My husband and I have the greatest memories of watching Kiana come down the stairs for school dressed as a wizard, super hero, or her favorite singer. We'll never forget #ThrowbackThursdays where she dressed in colonial era garb - wig, boots and all! Kiara has evolved into a talented, caring and bright young lady during her time at South Fork. She's been nominated for a Pathfinders of Palm Beach/Martin County Scholarship Fund Award and was offered scholarships from FAU, UCF and USF. Not surprisingly, Kiana is also one of two SFHS Spirit Dogs - cheering for the Bulldogs is her thing! We know that come graduation, tears will be shed. Sad tears of friends moving on and happy tears of accomplishment and fun memories. Kiana will become a University of Central Florida Knight soon, but fear not Bulldog Nation - she'll always be a Bulldog at heart!" 🎉Congratulations, Kiana! 🎉 We are so very proud of you! 🎨CULTIVATING CREATIVITY🎨 High school students throughout the Martin County School District participated in MartinArts' Plein Air Arts Day last week! This semi-annual arts education program brings together high school visual art students and some of our area's most talented professional artists for a day of learning and mentorship! "I am a licensed nail technician in the state of Florida and the owner of Nailed by Lana, LLC," Ya'Lana shares. "My plans after high school are to finish my A.S. degree with IRSC - Indian River State College and become a radiology technician. I would then like to enter a diagnostic medical imaging program to become an ultrasound technician. I'd like to send a huge shoutout to Mr. Talerico and Ms. Smith. Not only have they been the best teachers, but they have also been my best friends - the two people that I can talk to without feeling unheard or misunderstood; they are a gift and I love them endlessly. I would also like to mention my mother, Doris L. James-Weaver. She has been the best mother that anyone could ever dream of. She is the depiction of a rose in a field of daisies.
