Core Subjects

In the tables below are the District approved instructional materials for core subjects (English and Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies) and World Languages. If you would like to view the District approved instructional materials and you are a:

Core subjects instructional materials are adopted based upon the Florida Department of Education Adoption Cycle. As the respective subject area's adoption cycle is underway, stakeholders are notified through School Board meetings and District website postings. School Board Policy 2520 affords stakeholders the opportunity to review and to comments on the proposed instructional materials.

Health Education

If you are a parent of a Grade 6 Science, Grade 8 Health, Grades 9-10 Biology, or Grades 9-12 HOPE student, you can access the instructional materials used to educate students about the reproductive system and diseases. If you would like to opt out of this content matter, then download, complete, and return this letter to your child's principal:

Internet Safety CS/HB379

Technology in K-12 Public Schools; Prohibiting the use of certain platforms on district-owned devices and through Internet access provided by the school district; authorizing teachers and other instructional personnel to designate an area for wireless communications during instructional time; requiring public schools to provide instruction on the social, emotional, and physical effects of social media, etc.

Supplemental Instructional Materials

Teachers are required to employ District approved instructional materials to educate students. Supplemental materials--to include classroom reading lists--may be used to enhance student learning with the following conditions:

  • Adheres to Fl Statute(s) § 1014.05, § 1006.28, § 1003.41, § 847.012, §847.0133, §847.0138, HB 1467 , and Rule 6A-7.0713, F.A.C.

  • District approved instructional materials have been optimized.

  • The supplemental materials are standards-based.

  • The supplemental materials are grade-level appropriate.

  • If a parent objects to the content or use of a supplemental material, then the parent should contact the teacher to resolve the matter and to discuss the use of alternate materials.

Florida Required Instruction Plans and Reports

Districts are required to document their plans to Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) by December 1 of each school year. Additionally, districts are to document their reports to FLDOE by June 30 of each school year. Both the plans and reports shall be posted on each district's website.
